The policies described below apply only to Brooklyn College Presents events. For all events other than Brooklyn College Presents performances, please refer to Theater Policies section of the Box Office Info page.
- What if I cannot attend a performance for which I have purchased tickets?
If you are a Multibuy patron or Donor at a certain level, you may exchange your tickets for another performance with 24 hours notice (exchange privileges are an exclusive benefit of Multibuyers and Donors – price differentials may apply). Multibuyers and Donors may only exchange their tickets into other performances within the same season as the originally purchased tickets.
If you are not a Multibuyer or Donor, you you have two options. The first is to turn the unused tickets in to the box office as a tax-deductible contribution. The box office must receive these no later than the performance time printed on the ticket. You will receive a receipt in the amount of the value of the ticket(s) returned. Only the amount printed on the ticket is applicable as a contribution. You may not apply service fees as part of your tax-deductible contribution.
Your second option is to transfer the ticket to a guest. If you cannot supply the actual ticket to the guest, you may call the box office at least 24 hours prior to the performance and provide us with the name of the guest and the seat location of your ticket. A duplicate ticket will be held at the box office for your guest. No guest transfers will be processed with less than 24 hours notice.
Regardless of whether you are a Multibuyer, a Donor, or an individual event purchaser, the value of unused tickets may not be carried over from one season to another.
- What is Brooklyn College's policy for seating latecomers?
Patrons arriving late to a Brooklyn College Presents performance will be seated per the instructions of the house staff in a pre-designated "late seating" section at the rear of the theater so as not to disturb the artists on stage or fellow audience members. Latecomers will only be permitted to take their ticketed seats after intermission. If there is no intermission, latecomers will be required to remain in the late seating section for the duration of the performance. Patrons leaving the theater during the performance will be asked to wait with latecomers.
Brooklyn College urges all patrons to allow sufficient travel time for potential delays caused by inclement weather, traffic, construction, weekend subway/bus schedules, and so forth. Be sure to check your tickets in advance to confirm performance times.
- What if I lose my tickets before the day of the show?
For replacement tickets, call the Brooklyn College Box Office at 718-951-4500 in advance of the performance. All reprinted tickets will be held at the box office, and will only be released to the person who purchased the original tickets. Valid ID required for pickup.
- Are performances ever cancelled because of inclement weather?
Performances are not cancelled due to weather conditions unless there are EXTREME circumstances such as a performer unable to get to the theater or the declaration of a state of emergency. Please check the homepage of the Brooklyn College Presents website or call the Brooklyn College Box Office at 718-951-4500 or to inquire about cancellations. There will be no ticket refunds or exchanges for performances that take place as scheduled. In case of a performance cancellation, only the face value printed on the ticket will be refunded -- service fees are non-refundable.
- Can I bring my children to the performance?
Children are welcome at most Brooklyn College Presents shows, especially our family performances. Please check with the box office staff if there is any question as to the appropriateness of a performance for children. Everyone who enters the theater, regardless of age, must have his/her own ticket and occupy his/her own seat. No babies in arms or strollers will be allowed in the auditorium. As a courtesy to the performers and other audience members, we request that patrons refrain from bringing children under the age of two who are too young to sit quietly, and that parents immediately remove to the lobby any children who get restless during a show.
- What accommodations are available to patrons who use wheelchairs or have other special needs?
All performance venues at Brooklyn College are equipped with wheelchair ramps, accessible seating, and accessible family restrooms. Assisted listening devices are available from the concessions counter in the lobby of the Claire Tow (formerly Whitman) Theater. Large print programs may be requested by calling the box office at least 72 hours prior to your ticketed performance. Animal companions accompanying patrons who are blind or have low vision are welcome. If a member of your party requires any of these services, please notify the box office when arranging your tickets, so that our staff can make your visit to Brooklyn College as enjoyable as possible. - Can I take pictures during the performance?
No. The use of any photographic, video, or audio recording devices inside the theater, without written permission of the management, is prohibited by law. Any such devices being used during a performance are subject to confiscation until the end of the performance. Violators may also be punished by ejection and will be liable for monetary damages.
