In support of the Brooklyn College, CUNY and NY City-wide initiatives to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus, all scheduled events of The School of Visual, Media and Performing Arts' departments -- Conservatory of Music, Theatre, Preparatory Center, FiIm and Art -- have been postponed until further notice.

For ticketed events, ticket holders will be contacted by the Brooklyn College Box Office. We hope we will be able to resume activities as soon as possible; specific information will be posted on this website as it become available.

Modest Mussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain"

March 27

Modest Mussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain"

Ticket-holders will be contacted
by the Brooklyn College Box Office.

In this, the Conservatory Orchestra's second outing this semester, we find a broad range of beloved classics, including the intense Mussorgsky crowd-pleaser, which was forever immortalized by Walt Disney and Leopold Stokowski in FANTASIA, making it nearly impossible to listen to this thriller without at least for a moment or two, conjuring up Chernabog, the ghastly mythical creature awakened atop that foreboding mountain.

On the Programme:

  • Smetana, The Moldau
  • Borodin, Polovtsian Dances
  • Mussorgsky, Night on Bald Mountain
  • Mendelssohn, Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor

The Mendelssohn Concerto will feature the 2020 Conservatory Concerto Competition winner, Michael Zheng.

George Rotheman, Conductor
