Purcell’s "Dido and Aeneas"

The Conservatory of Music's Brooklyn College Opera Theatre presents Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. This baroque opera is the mythical story of Dido, Queen of Carthage, and Aeneas, Prince of Troy andtheir passionate and tragic love which heroicallydefied the wishes of the gods. The opera is based on Virgil's epic poem, The Aeneid, Purcell's first and only all-sung work. It is presented here in a fully staged performance.
